Kilmer Elementary School in Buffalo Grove held their first annual McTeacher’s Night at the Arlington Heights McDonald’s on Dundee Road on Wednesday, November 8th. A McTeacher’s Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having the teachers work at McDonald’s and then giving a percentage of the night’s sales to the local school.

On Wednesday the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for Kilmer Elementary School PTO. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and principal behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Nineteen teachers and staff members worked from the elementary school including Principal Matthew Lombardo. The McTeacher’s jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume–all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.

Kilmer Elementary Teachers Colleen Conley, Patty Zelasko, and Ana Smoody had a blast dancing around the restaurant in a pie costume. They were encouraging the families to make a donation and receive a delicious hot apple pie.

One highlight of the evening is when the school received a tip in the tip jar Kilmer Elementary staff members Mrs.Gallagher, Mrs. Hurtado, Mrs. Stanley and Ms. Beyler encouraged all the staff members to sing the McDonald’s jingle. The tips kept pouring in all night long!

A special thank you goes to Regina Catania who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. Kilmer Elementary teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening. The Kilmer Elementary PTO plans to use the money raised to support the STEAM Nights, Buses for school field trips and Literacy Resources.

Kilmer Elementary School raised over $730.00 at the event thanks to all generous families who supported the event.
