Parent Participation Requested for Survey

Topic: Updates

This spring, CCSD21 will be partnering with the Consortium for Educational Change (CEC) to complete a comprehensive assessment of district systems. This assessment will look at all facets of the district using three key areas of focus: A focus on learning, a focus on collaboration, and a focus on results. Completion of this assessment will provide critical data and information assisting the district in identifying areas of strength and opportunities for growth.

Preparation for this systems assessment began this winter when a dedicated team of staff members from across the district completed a comprehensive self-assessment, reflecting where we feel our strengths and opportunities for growth lie. As our next step in the process, we will welcome an external team of professional educators from across the Chicagoland area to visit CCSD21 on April 23-25 to conduct their own review and assessment of district systems. This external assessment team, formed by CEC, will, as part of their three-day visit, conduct focused interviews with groups of students fourth grade and up, parents, faculty, and staff in each of CCSD21’s schools — and this is where we need YOUR help!

If you are interested in being part of the parent interview panel, please complete this electronic interest form. If you cannot access the formfrom your mobile phone, please try accessing from a computer or tablet. If you still have trouble but you would like to participate next week, please just reply to me on this email expressing your interest. Parent interviews for Kilmer will be held at 8:45-9:30 on Wednesday, April 24th.

Space is limited so if we have more interest than available room, we will seek to ensure representation from parents representing multiple grade levels and randomize the selection to the extent possible. If you are selected, you will be contacted directly to confirm your attendance. We hope you will consider applying to be part of a candid, confidential conversation with other Kilmer parents and the CEC review team. The meeting will last 45 minutes.

Interview feedback and other information compiled by the external assessment team will be synthesized into a final report which will be presented to the Board of Education and made available on the CCSD21 website later this spring. This report will serve as an important document as CCSD21 conducts a strategic planning effort this fall.

We appreciate your consideration to be a part of this important process.
