CCSD21 a school is comprised of 13 schools across 6 different communities in Illinois.


Community Consolidated School District 21 serves nearly 7,000 students in 13 schools across 6 communities in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Kilmer Elementary School serves students through 5th grade. School starts at 9:00 AM and ends at 3:30 PM daily.

Summer Reading

This year’s Summer Reading program is themed “Be a Reading Super Hero”. Kids around the country will be reading over the Summer to win a “Best in State” recognition and special mention in the Scholastic Book of World Records. View more here.


Our goal is to present our students with real problems that affect our school and community so that they can find possible solutions through research and discovery.

Student of the Week

Each week Kilmer selects a student of the week who demonstrates and exceeds as a self-directed learner, quality producer, collaborative worker, and respectful responsible citizen.

Clubs and Groups

Student Council

Student Council exists for students to become involved in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with school management, staff and parents for the benefit of the school and its students.
When: Select A and B days


Chorus is an elective fifth grade student singing group. During this activity, fifth grade students will be singing with other children a varied repertoire of music while gaining musical independence. Students will also perform at various events during the school year.
When: A and C days

Student Safety Patrol

Patrol is to ensure students are safe and responsible while entering and exiting the hallways, washrooms and lunchroom at Kilmer.

Fitness Club

Helps support our district’s wellness goals for our students. We support our students by providing them with an opportunity to stay active in an organized and constructive way. Students set their own goals and use the social and emotional benefits of working together as a team to strive towards meeting those goals.

Recreational sports organized and held at Kilmer to support student physical fitness, health, and happiness.

Make a Difference Club

The goals of the club would be to teach children to give back to the community and to participate in activities that make them feel good about helping others.
When: E days

Technology Club

Tech club provides students with 21st Century skills and learning opportunities to explore, create, and lead in educational technology.
When: B and E days

Battle of the Books

4th and 5th grade students participate in a “game-show” like contest. Students answer questions from various books read by the teachers.

Art Club

Art club provides students various opportunities to learn and explore creative methods of art and design.

Pep Squad

Pep squad is a extra curricular group composed of fifth graders who perform pom/dance routines at the all-school spirit assemblies.

PTO Sponsored

Kilmer’s PTO sponsors several events over the course of the school year. Each event may reoccur, please check either the PTO website or our school calendar.
